Swearing-in of the President of the ISCED-HUÍLA Electoral Members Commission

The ISCED-HUÍLA Electoral Commission held, this Tuesday, April 5, 2022, the swearing-in ceremony for the members appointed for the ISCED-HUÍLA general elections. It took place in the institution’s amphitheatre and was attended by the Management, lecturers, and candidate members.

The opening was led by Lecturer Zeferino Manuel Saldanha, who introduced the candidates for direct voting for President and Vice-President of the General Council. Ballots were distributed and the votes were counted.

The candidates for the presidency were carefully selected from the lecturers’ category, with the exception of two candidacies. They may not represent group or sectoral interests, as they already carry out activities in other movements within the administrative trade-union sector.

They were sworn in: Boaventura Beleza Dos Santos Nolasco was elected President, and Arnaldo Aleixo Luiele as Vice-President; they expressed satisfaction and gratitude to the electorate.

To conclude the activity, the President of the Electoral Commission, Alice Inocêncio, delivered a speech: «Greetings to you with the peace of the month of April. It is common knowledge that, on March 2, 2022, ISCED-HUÍLA launched the electoral process for the election of the members of the General Council and the General President for the 2022–2027 term, with a view to everyone’s participation in this process. Notices were issued through various media and mass dissemination channels. Faced with the requirements and a patriotic spirit, those present accepted the proposed challenge and, without hesitation, stood as candidates for their respective electoral colleges, and were duly elected.»

The President also swore in the selected members, granting them legitimacy to carry out their mandate and functions with competence, exemption, impartiality and, above all, probity. She highlighted the responsibility involved, which is typically a public service, and the arduous mission of leading the process that will culminate in the election of the President of ISCED-HUÍLA. She appealed for recognition of the effort required by this task, and for the duty of professionals committed to the country’s development and to the institution, through the democratic selection of the most distinguished representatives of the academic community. They must uphold conduct guided by principles, values and well-founded rules, grounded in justice and transparency, and in professional ethics as the first step towards establishing a relationship of trust between public services and the citizen.
