Course Overview

The Bachelor’s Degree programme in Education Sciences, specialising in Philosophy Teaching, trains professionals with a strong sense of responsibility, capable of working in the teaching of Philosophy, both in the general and higher education subsystems, as well as in other areas that require scientific training, necessary for work in the various fields of education, as well as competencies that enable the continuation of studies at postgraduate level.

Graduate Profile

This programme qualifies graduates for the following profile:

  • Graduates in Philosophy Teaching qualify as professionals able to work in Secondary Education (Cycles I and II) and in the Higher Education subsystem;
  • In teacher training schools; in emerging areas of the educational field, with competencies at the “human”, technical/professional and pedagogical levels;
  • A professional capable of dealing with challenging situations in relation to the objective to be achieved, in the organisation and management of educational systems, units and projects, in the production and dissemination of knowledge in various areas of education, with teaching as the basis of their training and professional identity;
  • A professional aware of their limitations, alert/attentive and interested, so as to remain up to date, who never considers their training process complete;
  • A thinker, scholar and researcher;
  • A critical analyst of reality, capable of systematically questioning their own knowledge, so that there can be a constant restructuring of their professional “toolkit” and the adoption of coherent positions.

Conditions for attending the programme:
The requirements to attend the Bachelor’s Degree programme in Education Sciences, specialising in Philosophy Teaching, are: to be a student who has completed the 12th or 13th grade at teacher training schools, Primary Teacher Training Colleges, Upper Secondary Schools (Second Cycle), or any other institution corresponding to secondary education, and to have, on the certificate, the positive performance required by ISCED-Huíla’s admission standard in the Philosophy subject, and to pass the Philosophy entrance examination.
