For much of the twentieth century, we learned that individuals were not of great importance, and that their performances did not mean much. We also learned that people represented little in the face of structures, contexts\u2026 <\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

However, with Microhistory and the return of biographies to the context of historians, we can perceive the importance of people, of individuals. And with regard to African Studies and the History of Africa, there is no denying the fundamental importance of certain personalities, notably those who have long strived for the consolidation of this field of study.
In relation to the history of Angola, it can be affirmed that the individual holds a privileged place, whether through the performance and manner in which research is conducted, or through the way phenomena, events, and contexts are approached. <\/p>\n

It is with great pride that we continue our interview series with the presence of one of the greatest Angolan historians of the present time: H\u00e9lder Alicerces Bah\u00fa, next Wednesday, 23\/09\/2020, from 1:00 PM Bras\u00edlia time, and 5:00 PM Angola time, discussing the theme “A Teaching Career in Service of the History of Angola and African Studies.” In addition to being one of the most prestigious figures in African Studies at the international level, and in the History of Angola at the national level, H\u00e9lder Alicerces Bah\u00fa has been working to train a new generation of historians and education professionals. He is a Professor in the Department of Social Sciences, History Division of the Higher Institute of Education Sciences of Hu\u00edla (ISCED-HU\u00cdLA). He holds a Master’s degree in Anthropology: Heritage and Identities, a Doctorate in Anthropology from the Higher Institute of Labour and Business Sciences of Lisbon (ISCTE-IUL), and is Coordinator of the Centre for Research and Development in Education (CIDE). <\/p>\n

Our interviewers will be Professors Rodrigo Rezende (UFF \u2013 Campos dos Goytacazes), Yuri Manuel (ISART \u2013 Angola), and Ivaldo Lima (UNEB DEDC II).<\/span><\/p>\n
