<\/strong>Programme Overview<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics is one of the programmes that effectively emerged with the establishment of ISCED-HU\u00cdLA. The curriculum of this programme is designed as an integrated system which, in addition to the delivery of content and the production of knowledge, includes the development by students of basic, specific and global skills, as well as formative attitudes, critical analysis and a broad understanding of their future role as professionals and members of society, thus constituting the set of academic activities that enable the development of a programme. <\/p>\n

The professional conduct expected of the future Mathematics teacher requires not only mastery of the specific knowledge around which they will work, but also an understanding of the issues involved in their work, their identification and resolution, autonomy in decision-making, and responsibility for the choices made. It also requires the ability to critically assess their own performance and the context in which they operate, as well as to interact cooperatively with the professional community to which they belong and with society. <\/p>\n


Graduate Profile <\/strong><\/p>\n

a) <\/strong>In terms of knowledge<\/strong><\/p>\n

    \n
  • Graduates in Mathematics Teaching must be able to distinguish the content of Geometry, Algebra and Analysis;<\/li>\n
  • Graduates in Mathematics Teaching must be familiar with the theories of Teaching and Learning (Pedagogy, General Didactics, General and Developmental Psychology, and Didactics of Mathematics Teaching);<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    b) In terms of know-how<\/strong><\/p>\n

      \n
    • Graduates in Mathematics Teaching must be able to teach Mathematics content in Secondary and Technical\u2013Vocational Education;<\/li>\n
    • Graduates in Mathematics Teaching must be able to teach in Higher Education, should this be deemed necessary;<\/li>\n
    • Graduates in Mathematics Teaching must be able to use information and communication technologies to teach Mathematics content.<\/li>\n
    • Graduates in Mathematics Teaching must demonstrate the ability to collaborate in scientific research centres for the production of knowledge and problem-solving.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      c) In terms of personal and professional attitudes <\/strong><\/p>\n

        \n
      • Graduates in Mathematics Teaching must be honest and scientifically humble, respectful, and have good interpersonal relations within the society in which they are integrated.<\/li>\n
      • Graduates in Mathematics Teaching must be supportive of the social cause.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        Requirements to attend the programme: <\/strong><\/p>\n

          \n
        • Applicants to the Mathematics Teaching programme at ISCED-Hu\u00edla must, from the outset, demonstrate their professional vocation for education, in order to fulfil the purposes of the establishment of ISCED-Hu\u00edla;<\/li>\n
        • Applicants who have attended and successfully completed the 2nd Cycle of Secondary Education, in the Mathematics and Physics option, Physical and Biological Sciences, as well as Technical\u2013Vocational programmes, with Mathematics included in their curriculum plan.<\/li>\n
