Course Presentation
The Bachelor’s degree in English Language Teaching aims to train general and academic communicators, analysts, researchers, teachers, and teacher trainers of the English language, as well as language department managers who demonstrate reflection, comparison, and constant inquiry. Its specific objectives are as follows:
- Communicate in the English language correctly and fluently;
- Master theoretical knowledge of literature and possess the skills to read, understand, and interpret texts;
- Know methods, techniques, and strategies for teaching English as a foreign language, including students with special educational needs;
Acquire technical knowledge, methods, and strategies to train English language trainers and continue professional development after completing the course;
Graduate Profile
- Write summaries, compositions, short and long scientific papers, and monographs in English, showing competence in academic writing conventions, grammar, punctuation, spelling, and vocabulary;
- Conduct primary and secondary research within and outside the academic context;
- Competently teach English at various educational levels and specialties;
- Train other English teachers in secondary schools;
- Identify the linguistic needs of their students and find ways to address them;
- Perform tasks involving the use of the English language whenever requested.
Requirements for attending the course
- Be able to answer questions about a direct reading text, showing recognition and understanding of keywords and general or specific information in a text;
- Place several jumbled sentences or paragraphs in the correct order, showing an understanding of the basic organization of a text;
- Possess a sufficiently large vocabulary in English, for example, to be able to group words or describe the use of tools;
- Be able to write a simple letter talking about family, work, studies, recent holidays, plans, etc., understandable to the reader and appropriate in terms of grammar, punctuation, spelling, and vocabulary;
- Provide a simple, coherent, and cohesive description of a city, building, or organization they know;
- Show an acceptable degree of fluency by participating in a conversation on a basic topic, such as family, hobbies, or work, requesting and providing information, etc.;
- Speak coherently about their English learning experiences, daily routine, and study plans;
- Show good listening skills by extracting essential information from a stream of speech;
- Be genuinely interested in the English language and prepared to work hard throughout the course;
